I have seen the Karma at the 2009 NAIAS and watched several videos. The two motors are not "local" to the wheels, if you mean that they each drive one of the rear wheels. There is a rear differential, for lack of a better term to which each motor is mounted fore and aft, then shafts go out left and right to each wheel.
